MAKE YOUR OWN GEL
Application Note
For those who prefer gels to drinks, S! Ultra, Amino or CLIP2
can be dissolved in a smaller amount of water to make a “gel” or
thin syrup. This can be put into bottles or flasks as you choose.
That allows you to carry a lot of calories in a small space.

The tables below show the amounts of ingredients needed to
make a concentrate.  Place the powder in a clean Pyrex cup, or
in a wide-mouth bottle.  Heat the water to near boiling and add it
in small amounts at a time, stirring after each addition.  The
solution will be most fluid when it is hot.  As soon as possible,
pour it into the container(s) you will use during the run.

When you first mix in the water, the mix will look rather strange.
Time is your friend on this exercise – 30 minutes later the mix
will look much better – like a thin, clear syrup.

The concentration you can use depends on the temperature in
which you will run.  The mix thickens in colder temperatures.

Be sure that the containers for carrying the concentrate are
very clean before you put in the concentrate.  Wash containers
thoroughly after use.  Use any concentrated mix within 24
hours, or refrigerate for longer storage.

The taste of the mix will be different than that of the normally
more dilute sports drink.  We think that AMINO works best with
this method.
