Developed in 1995 by scientist and ultramarathoner Karl King,
SUCCEED! Electrolyte Caps have become
The Gold Standard for Electrolyte Replacement™.
Of course, others have tried to imitate this formulation, but have failed to
deliver a product as good as S! Caps.
S! Caps are 100% electrolytes. Beware of imitations that use
ineffective, non-electrolyte fillers such as sugars or the carbohydrate
maltodextrin.
Electrolyte supplementation is primarily about sodium replacement, and
S! Caps deliver more for your money than any other supplement.
Don't waste your money on imitations that supply less than half the sodium of
S! Caps and will let you down when the heat is on.
Nutrition Facts labels normally list sodium content as the element, but some
products have misleading labels that express the sodium content as sodium
chloride ( table salt ). This leads the unexpecting reader to think that they
are getting more sodium because the numbers are large.
The S! Caps label lists sodium as the element, 341 mg per capsule. If you
want to compare to other products that list the sodium as sodium chloride,
S! Caps supply 867 mg of sodium as sodium chloride.
We encourage you to read labels so that you understand why S! Caps are the
superior electrolyte supplement. See our Integrated Solution page to see
why we don't load up our formulations with the "kitchen sink" list of
ingredients that are present in quantities too small to have any real effect.
S! Caps provide all of the major blood plasma electrolytes that other
fomulations are missing [ sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, and
phosphate ]. S! Caps contain ONLY electrolytes with no fillers or vitamins
that aren't really needed in an electrolyte formulation.
What about magnesium? "Magnesium is another intracellular ion that, like
potassium, is lost in sweat and urine during exercise. But the losses are trivial.
There is no published evidence showing that magnesium deficiency is either common
amongst the physically active, or that magnesium supplementation can either increase
the intracellular magnesium stores, or enhance performance."
Dr. Timothy Noakes Sports Nutrition: Fluid, Electrolytes, and Minerals (Report from
the World Forum on Physical Activity and Sport, Quebec City, Canada, 1995.)
S! Caps give you the electrolytes you need without unneeded stuff taking up
room in the capsule.
“I set my alarm for every hour at Barkley and took one
capsule for 58 straight hours."
Dr. David Horton
Heavy sweating during athletic performance lasting for many hours can cause loss of
critical electrolytes from blood plasma. Moderate loss of electrolytes can degrade
performance, while heavy losses can lead to hyponatremia ( low blood sodium ) that
can cause collapse and death in extreme cases.
Sports drinks can provide adequate sodium input for a few hours of exercise, but are
insufficient over longer periods. Energy bars and gels are low in sodium and should
be supplemented with electrolytes.
SUCCEED! BUFFER/ELECTROLYTE CAPS provide electrolytes that are commonly
found in blood plasma ( sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, phosphate ), in the
proper proportions for hours of exercise. When taken with sufficient water, they help
the body maintain good hydration status, which allows performance at a high level.
As we claimed back in 1995 before others had even thought about appropriate
electrolyte replacement in endurance events: they also contain a chemical buffering
system that neutralizes the acids formed during heavy exercise. Neutralization of
excess acid will help performance and reduce the nausea associated with exercise in
the heat. Maintenance of proper electrolyte levels will reduce swelling of hands and
feet after many hours of exercise, and that will reduce "hot spots" and blisters on the
feet. The buffers in S! Caps also help soothe the stomach.
I just wanted to write a quick letter to thank you for your tremendous product.
I began doing Triathlons a few years ago and in the last two years I have done
3 ½ Ironman distance races and in each one I have been plagued by cramps.
They have been so bad that I have had to walk at least 4-6 miles in each race.
As a diabetic, I struggle to ingest enough sodium via electrolyte caps and
sportsdrink, but I must be very careful about my blood sugars. At the advice
of a coach, I began using your S-Caps during the last month of my training for
the Florida Ironman. I completed the race this past weekend (my first
Ironman) in a total time of 13:11:56. My marathon time was 4:52:16 (I was
expecting a time closer to 6 hrs due to cramping.) I took one S! Cap every 30
minutes and I DID NOT HAVE 1 SINGLE CRAMP for the entire marathon. This
was my first marathon and I was running it after swimming 2.4 miles and
cycling 112 miles. I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful product.

Beware of imitations: We get e-mails like this from time to time
"Karl
I have been using your products for many years in various ultra runs. Enjoy your comments and information on the Ultralist.
3 weeks ago ran a 50 miler on Mt Diablo in northern California. It was in the low 70s but warm for the first time this year. I had
Succeed caps and planned on using them but since the aid stations had them decided to use the 'free' ones. Tried to keep
taking them about 1/hr. The run went OK - ran comfortably - although got dehydrated late in the run. That night both calves and
quads began cramping up. First time this has happened in over 30 years of running. I know the RDs and asked later about
drinks and electroyltes supplied. They mentioned they use Saltsticks as the caps. Looking at the sodium levels 215 vs 344 I am
now guessing that I didn't receive enough sodium during the run. The caps look identical and without asking - sometimes the aid
stations don't really know anyway - you may think you are getting sufficient electroyltes when you really are not.
Ran Massanutten this past weekend and they did have Succeed. No problems with hydration or electroytes - although it was
slightly cooler and shady. Thanks again for helping keep the sport enjoyable, doable, and safe"

I've been out of S!Caps for about 2 weeks. I'm getting leg cramps every night
because of my daily 3-hour running sessions. I'm done ordering this stuff by
the bottle. I won't be at peace until I have a case tucked under my bed!
You guys are a lifesaver...

“Wanted to take a second to thank you SO much for
creating S!Caps. Training for my first ultra, they have,
without fail, brought an entirely new level of enjoyment to
long runs.
It's one thing to read other testimonials and another to
experience the effect one's self.
A superb product. Thanks for your genius and for caring
about our health on the trails.” Mer Otis

My husband, Dr. Neil Ambrose ran the Western States 100 mile Endurance Run this year and successfully completed it in 26:42!
However, early on things were not going that well. At Robinson Flats, Neil had lost 7lbs from his starting weight! He was very
concerned and started pounding in the fluid and the S Caps! By Last Chance, the next weigh in, he had regained all his weight and
was feeling great! Neil says that if there was one thing he learned from Western States, it was the necessity to hydrate and
maintain a balanced electrolyte level. He thinks that S Caps were the key and hence, the reason we just ordered a whole case from
you!!
Thanks again,
Carolyn King
